The Pagan feast day of Imbolc or Imbolg or saint Brigitt’s day is celebrated on February 1st or 2nd in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the mid point of the suns path from winter solstice to spring equinox. Since the Year is based both on Solar and Lunar cycles, some celebrate on the nearest full moon, which this year would be February 7th. February can be a dreary month in the north but there are signs that spring is on the way. Lambs and calves are being born, ravens are building their nests and the old woman of winter is being re-born as the maiden of spring.
